Negin Sharifzadeh
New York based artist, born in Tehran, Iran in 1979.

Born in a year of revolution, and growing up in one of the world's most historically and socially complex regions in its wake, I am fascinated by the mechanisms and interplay of different natural, social and political systems. My work explores: how these systems are composed; how information, energy and material are codified within them; and how bodies are impacted by and interact with them. I have shown work in New York at Gallery ELL's transient landscape; in Chicago at DePaul University Museum in the show Iran Inside Out; performed at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago as part of the Goat Island Performing Group; shown in Berkeley as part of the Iranian Women Artists group show; in Tehran Contemporary Museum of Art's Sculpture Biennal Art Auction; at the Niavaran Art Center, the Haft-samar Art Gallery and the Tehran House of Artists. I received a BFA in sculpture at Tehran University in 2002, and a BFA in Performing Arts from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2010.
